En el St James Park hubo un dominio total del Newcastle al principio. Las urracas lograron desplegar un sistema lúcido que les hizo llegar al primer tanto. Parecía ser que el local iba tener un juego que le haría trascender en el resto del encuentro. Pero luego de haber bajado notablemente su nivel, el Forest creció y aprovechó los espacios que el Newcastle dejaba para redimirse. El Nottingham se lleva los tres puntos luego de que el delantero Chris Wood haya estado realmente inspirado.

NEWCASTLE SE LUCÍA Y GANABA EN EL INICIO, PERO TRAS UN DESCUIDO DESAPROVECHÓ LA CHANCE DE IR AL DESCANSO CON UNA VICTORIA

Newcastle empezó con intenciones de realizar presiones altas, pero no tenían buenas conclusiones. Al Nottingham Forest no le costaba salir y ya realizaba un remate a puerta en los primeros minutos. Otras de las intenciones de las urracas era avanzar con jugadas elaboradas, y por su parte, el Forest respondía. El juego se hacía de ida y vuelta en su introducción. El Newcastle quería hacer pesar su localía con las incursiones de Trippier y Almirón. Otro que acompañaba en el inicio era el joven Miley. Guimarães también quería marcar presencia. Gordon aportaba desde el sector izquierdo. El Nottingham se hacía sentir en el medio con su capitán Gibbs-White. El mismo realizaba faltas técnicas para cortar el avance del equipo local.

Llegados los 10´ minutos la constante creada era la del Newcastle manejando un poco más el balón y presionando con mejor suerte. Mientras que el Forest aprovechaba las recuperaciones y salía de contra. Parecía ser que los locales se asentaban y empezaban a lograr un buen juego. No obstante, El Nottingham no renunciaba al juego que estableció desde el principio. Sus centrales Murillo y Niakhaté eran claves en la salida y en la transición de las contras.

A los 20´ el Newcastle seguía creando con Gordon y compañía. Y tras un balón filtrado por parte de Miley a Isak, el sueco recibió un contacto en el área y posterior a eso cayó. Tras la acción el juez señaló la pena máxima. El penal fue ejecutado por el mismo Alexander Isak y la mandó a portería correctamente. El remate esquinado a la izquierda del estadounidense Turner confirmaba el correcto arranque de las urracas en el juego. Newcastle pasaba a ganar por uno a cero en 23´minutos de partido. El Forest intentó responder en una contra finalizada por Elanga, pero el portero Dúbravka supo actuar ante la situación.

En media hora Nottingham casi logra el empate tras un lateral enviado al área y un posterior cabezazo de Elanga. El Forest no se achicaba en sus acciones, mas le costaba el juego. El Newcastle era el principal dueño y justo ganador del partido. A pesar de alguna u otra incursión del equipo de rojo, los de blanco y negro sabían cómo lidiar ante eso y resguardaban el resultado a su favor. Anthony Elanga, ya estaba peleado con el gol, pues en 32´ erró en un mano a mano. Por otro lado, el Newcastle seguía luciéndose y atosigaba al Forest. Los locales atacaban por el sector derecho mediante paredes y tacos. Turner y demás la estaban sacando barata.

El Nottingham Forest no podía concretar debido a la falta de entendimiento en delantera. Gibbs, Wood, Elanga y Hudson no lograban conectar y daban paso al desperdicio de las jugadas en casi 40’ de juego.

En la parte final del primer tiempo el Newcastle manejaba cómodamente el balón. Tuvo la chance de llegar al segundo tanto e ir al descanso relajado. Pero tras una mala cesión de Miguel Almirón en área rival, nacía la contra del Nottingham. La respuesta del equipo rojo estuvo bien elaborada y tras eso llegó al empate. La finalización de la jugada fue hecha por Wood en 46´minutos. La primera parte se iba con un empate inesperado.

En el arranque del segundo tiempo el Nottingham salió a buscar el segundo gol. Casi concreta luego de un cabezazo de Gibbs – White. El Newcastle por su parte respondía y se posicionaba en ataque. En la segunda parte parecía ser que el Nottingham estaba con otra actitud. Antes de los 50´minutos ya realizaba su segundo ataque profundo tras un desborde de Aina. El Newcastle se mostraba lanzado en ataque y sufría los contragolpes del equipo que estaba de visita. El capitán Gibbs – White era el principal creador del Forest y a la defensa de las urracas le costaba contenerlo.

El Nottingham llegó al segundo gol en el minuto 52´. Elanga realizó una jugada de transición excelsa. Posterior a eso asistió al neozelandés Wood. El delantero picó el balón ante la salida de Dúbravka y así convirtió el tanto que daba la victoria parcial a su conjunto. La delantera del Forest, que en un principio parecía inestable, salió al segundo tiempo con otra cara y estaba poniendo cuesta arriba al elenco de blanco y negro. Eddie Howe notó las falencias y mandó al campo de juego a Wilson y Livramento por Almirón Y Burn. Rápidamente, de manera no tan precisa, las urracas salieron a buscar el empate. Pero en ese trajín ya no estaban tan compactos.

En 60´ minutos el Newcastle estaba muy adelantado. Y tras dejar espacios en la línea de fondo, el Forest volvía a aprovechar. Llegó al tercer gol luego de que Wood evada a Dúbravka en un mano a mano. Con mucha sorpresa, el Nottingham pasaba a ganar por tres a uno a un Newcastle que bajó realmente todo el nivel demostrado en el primer tiempo. Elanga tuvo para liquidar el encuentro en 66´ luego de una asistencia de Gibbs – White, pero no pudo rematar correctamente. De todas formas, en cada contra era profundo el Forest. Las urracas tenían la cabeza en el arco rival y descuidaban su portería. Miley tuvo un remate interesante en 68´, pero no pasó a ser algo más importante.

A los 74´ eran los del Forest los que se lucían en el manejo del balón. Y por parte del Newcastle, Isak intentaba incursionar, pero se encontraba solo o impreciso. Sin ideas, las urracas merodeaban el área del Forest. No obstante, los visitantes se cerraban correctamente. Schar intentó con un tiro libre en 78´, pero este tuvo un destino muy alejado del arco.

A falta de diez minutos para los noventas la pelota era manejada por el Newcastle, pero no concretaban profundizaciones. También intentaban con los centros o tiros de esquina, mas la defensa aérea del Forest era superior. Con un aspecto desconcertante en 86´, el Newcastle se empezaba a despedir de los tres puntos de local. Mientras que el Forest trataba de cuidar el balón en los momentos que lo tenía.

El resultado final del encuentro fue de tres a uno. Gran victoria para el Nottingham Forest sobre el Newcastle. De esta forma, el Forest se ubica en el puesto 16 y va a 17 puntos.
