Julián Álvarez con doblete de penalti, Giuliano y Sorloth claudicaron a un gran Valladolid en un partido marcado por las tres penas máximas señaladas

Noche de lluvia y de goles en el Metropolitano en el encuentro que cerraba esta jornada 31, donde el Atlético derrotó a un Valladolid que compitió y dio la cara en uno de sus últimos partidos antes de que se confirme su descenso inevitable a LaLiga Hypermotion.

Comenzaría el choque eléctrico, con el equipo colchonero adueñándose de la pelota, pero con un Valladolid enfrente bien plantado y serio atrás. Aguantaba las acometidas de Giuliano y Julián la defensa pucelana como podían, achicando balones, como si esperaran una mínima oportunidad para conseguir golpear primero. Y mira por donde, dichoso fútbol y sus cosas… esa oportunidad llegó en forma de pena máxima, gracias a una mano torpe de Lenglet tras botar un saque de esquina en lo que era la primera llegada con algo de peligro hacia la meta defendida por Oblak. Asumió la responsabilidad Sylla, que convirtió a su izquierda mientras que el esloveno se vencía hacia la derecha. El Pucela silenciaba el Metropolitano.

Sin embargo, poco dura la alegría en la casa del pobre, como bien dice el refranero español. A los tres minutos de adelantarse, Javi Sánchez, que suma una nueva imprudencia en su área, pisó claramente a Giuliano. Díaz de Mera, avisado por segunda vez en el encuentro desde la sala VOR, acudió al monitor y señaló el punto fatídico, señalando el segundo penalti en un muy corto espacio de tiempo. Julián Álvarez, por el centro, hizo subir la igualada al luminoso y a los dos minutos, Giuliano hizo las maravillas visuales del respetable. Tras una buena internada por banda derecha, se introdujo en el área y, después de quedar sin cadera a Henrique, fusiló a Ferreira por su palo, culminando la remontada en apenas ocho minutos. 

Con los blanquivioletas en shock, los locales siguieron apretando en busca de ampliar la ventaja y dejarlo más encaminado de cara a los 45 minutos restantes, pero el colegiado, tras cumplirse los cinco minutos de añadido por las intervenciones del VAR, señaló el camino a vestuarios, con todo por decidir en la segunda mitad.

Decíamos antes que el fútbol y sus cosas es lo que hace precioso este deporte. Para muestra, otro botón. Diez minutos tardaron en verse los frutos. Con una marcha más y con la energía renovada, en una internada en el área pucelana, Henrique pisó imprudentemente a Marcos Llorente y Díaz de Mera, para no variar en la tónica del partido, señaló por tercera vez en el encuentro el punto de penalti, que se encargaría de transformar Julián Álvarez para hacer su doblete particular.

Con el partido convertido en un «toma y daca», el Valladolid buscó la machada con la electricidad de los recién entrados Moro e Iván Sánchez, pero tras repeler de manera sobresaliente Ferrerira un disparo cercano a Julián, Sorloth utilizó la cuchara para arrebañar el balón e introducirlo en la meta defendida por el arquero portugués para finiquitar el partido, dejando al Pucela sobre la lona tras un esfuerzo y un partido más que notables.
