El técnico alemán afronta con ilusión esta gran cita y afirma que su equipo «saldrá a ganar en un gran escenario como el Santiago Bernabéu»

Tras 14 años de ausencia, el VfB Stuttgart vuelve a la UEFA Champions League y su primer será contra el Real Madrid. El conjunto de Carlo Ancelotti comenzará la defensa del título esta noche ante el equipo alemán. Sebastian Hoeness, sobrino del mítico del Bayern de los 70, Uli Hoeness, lleva una temporada y media al frente del Stuttgart y hoy iniciará su andadura en la máxima competición continental ante el actual campeón de Europa.

Hoeness aseguró que jugar contra el Real Madrid «es el mayor reto que puede tener un equipo» y se mostró confiado en sus opciones de dar la sorpresa en el Santiago Bernabéu.

«Nos hace mucha ilusión y esperamos superar este reto. En el fútbol todo es posible y creo que vamos a tener oportunidades. Habrá fases del partido que serán muy favorables, por lo que tenemos que estar preparados mental y físicamente«.

«Jugaremos con mucho valor, aunque venimos con el respeto que merece el campeón de la Champions, sabiendo que es un equipo con mucha más experiencia. Sabemos que con nuestro fútbol podemos dar la sorpresa», añadió.

El técnico del Stuttgart aseguraba en rueda de prensa que no se centrarán únicamente en un sólo jugador, sino que lucharán «contra todos».

«Cuando el sorteo nos emparejó con el Real Madrid nos alegramos mucho porque es una bonita oportunidad de jugar contra los mejores. No sólo Mbappé, también Vinícius o Rodrygo«, señalaba.

Hoeness también se paró a elogiar a un escenario como imponente el estadio blanco. «Es impresionante, tanto desde fuera como dentro. Da una sensación de lo que nos va a esperar mañana con 85.000 aficionados en las gradas. El rival es excelente pero tenemos que luchar ante la afición madridista también. Vamos a jugar con mucha ilusión. Hemos trabajado un año para conseguir jugar este tipo de partidos», explicaba.

«Estoy en modo partido, centrado y no tengo tiempo de pensar en mitos ni en el pasado. No lo haré antes ni durante el partido. Lo vamos a preparar para demostrar que somos capaces de dar una sorpresa. Da igual el rival, el objetivo siempre es ganar. No pienso en lo extraordinario que es jugar aquí, solamente queremos un buen resultado», afirmaba en rueda de prensa.

El entrenador del Stuttgart también habló sobre la principal novedad que estrenará mañana la ‘nueva’ Champions. «Nos hace ilusión este nuevo formato. Para nosotros y para la ciudad de Stuttgart, hubiese sido un acontecimiento recibir al Real Madrid, pero vendrá el PSG. Llevamos 14 años sin estar en la Champions y nos hace muchísima ilusión estar aquí. Cuando pase diremos lo que más y lo que menos nos ha gustado del cambio».
